Event: Launch of Miinto.ie

A few weeks ago I wrote a blog post about the new online clothing store Miinto.ie and last week saw the official launch of the website with a party in Dublin’s Lost Society to celebrate. We sipped on lots of cocktails and munched on canapés as we were introduced to the online store by MD James Galvin who told us how it came about.

With 36 Irish boutiques and over 200 brands on offer, Miinto.ie is a great concept, one that any Asos.com lovers (like myself) are sure to enjoy! Check out Miinto.ie.

Birthday dinner…

…not my birthday, but Kev’s. We headed into Town Bar and Grill for a delicious meal on Saturday night. I decided to go sort of casual, because my legs were too pale to be shown off! They won’t be like that for too much longer though because there’s less than two months to go until my Greek island holiday!

La Roche Posay: SOS Save Our Skin

Have you heard about French beauty brand La Roche Posay’s new campaign Save Our Skin, which aims to raise awareness about skin cancer in Ireland?

Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in Ireland, with one in eight men and one in ten women developing it by the age of 74.  La Roche-Posay’s goal is to raise awareness and understanding about staying safe in the sun, even in Ireland where many of us think we can skip sun protection in the summer, because we live in Ireland.

But the threat of skin cancer is real and on the rise, so La Roche-Posay want to educate, inform and inspire people to learn how to take care of their skin. They’re doing this alongside the Melanoma Trust, the Irish Cancer Society and the
support of the Department of Health.

This year the campaign is focusing on raising awareness amongst men. SOS Save Our Skin has created an emotive and impactful public awareness campaign video. La Roche-Posay want to encourage Irish people to share this message with their friends, family, partner, colleagues, kids and ultimately educate as many Irish people as possible.

For every person that joins the cause, La Roche-Posay will make a donation in your name to the Melanoma Trust. You will also be entered into a draw to win one of 10 sets of Anthelios sun protection.

So, take charge and make a change in how you protect your skin today. Learn more and help protect yourself and someone you love by passing the message on and spreading the word.

Black and Lace

I indulged in a little bit of shopping on Saturday afternoon, and that evening gave me the opportunity to show my new purchases off! I was originally planning on buying a black lace skirt, but there were none that caught my eye and I loved the fit and colour of this turquoise one, which will be perfect for my Greek Island holiday in July, teamed with a simple white vest and flat sandals. My black sequin top, earrings and necklace are from Forever 21, a shop that never disappoints! I love their cheap and cheerful clothes, and the jewellery section is a magpies dream!

Outfit post and new hair ‘do!

I had a long-overdue trip to the hairdressers on Friday evening and got to show off my new ‘do on Saturday night in town. I’ve done an outfit post below, which also shows off my new hair cut, however I  wanted to use this post to highlight my hair salon experience.

I went to Statement hair salon on Drury Street, Dublin for the first time, where I was booked in for a cut and blow-dry. With work finishing at 5.30pm and my appointment being at 6pm I arrived a few minutes early. Or so I thought, because I was told that I was booked in for 5.30pm, not 6pm and that I had missed my slot and therefore the stylist whom I was booked in with and recommended was now busy with another client.

I was really disappointed because I never would have a booked in for 5.30pm, as I only finish work at that time on the other side of town. Perhaps they could have rung or texted me to find out if I was still coming for my appointment?

Customer service also left a lot to be desired – The two women behind the desk were blatantly talking about me behind their hands while I was waiting to see if I could still get the cut and blow dry I was booked in for. This is something I have never experienced anywhere I was a customer.

The only saving grace of my experience in Statement was my replacement hair stylist Noel. He was so friendly and gave me a really lovely hair cut. I would have no problem recommending him as a stylist to anyone, but I can say for certain that I won’t be returning to Statement any time soon.

Jean Paul Gaultier for Diet Coke

This week saw the Irish launch of the Diet Coke Night & Day bottle collection by Jean Paul Gaultier at Harvey Nichols Dundrum. I went along to the event after work, and even the crazy rush-hour traffic from town couldn’t stop me from attending.

The room looked great, with giant replicas of the Night & Day Collection, sexy sailors, a dj and three stunning models inspired by the Diet Coke puppets. We also got to watch Jean Paul Gaultier’s short film, which offered an insight into his mind, as the newly appointed Creative Director of Diet Coke.

We sipped on Diet Coke in the cool new bottle, munched on delicious finger food (the chocolate brownie wa YUM!) and I had a pic taken in the photobooth with fellow blogger Niamh. I had to take advantage of the nail bar too once I saw the fab Jean Paul Gaultier inspired design they were doing. Three days later, they’re a little worse for wear but this is how they looked the next day:

And they’re definitely a design I think I could replicate too!

Pictured above is one of the bottles that I received in the goodie bag. I’ll definitely be keeping the bottles and putting them on display in my bedroom because as you can see, they’re so pretty! If you’d like to pick up one of the limited edition bottles, you can find them in Harvey Nichols.
